Community & Social Manager

Polyarc is looking for a player-centric Community Manager and social content creator who is a natural diplomat, constantly seeking to build trust, and drive engagement across community and social platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved from the very beginning of a product launch as an advocate for the voice of the player starting with closed playtesting, then driving the growth of the community, ensuring we have the right strategies to scale appropriately as we get closer to worldwide launch and beyond. The ideal candidate is passionate about keeping up with popular community platforms and has a deep understanding of how to harness the power of organic and social channels to create and maintain long-term engagement with fans. Adept at crafting community plans, social media content, and copywriting, they would know when to leverage events, playtests, content creators, influencer relationships, and other creative focused strategies to help us achieve our player engagement goals.

The Daily:

  • Monitor and moderate the Discord server(s), social media channels, as well as external community sites (Steam, Reddit, Twitch, etc.) for our live games
  • Plan and create high-quality content for our organic channels (including assets, events, live streams, videos, blog posts, etc.)
  • Ensure game and brand updates / patches, announcements, editorial content, and news are posted taking into consideration peak times and an appropriate cadence to optimize engagement
  • Work with game team to understand game mechanics, features and in-game events (seasonal content and updates) to evangelize them to our community
  • Recruit and vet potential volunteer moderators, owning the application process always ensuring good legal practice
  • Manage volunteer moderator group including training, setting up monthly calls, reporting on any changes in group functionality, and ensuring duties are divided equally across all relevant time zones
  • Provide comprehensive reports on player-facing community feedback, issues, concerns and trends to stakeholders in order to address the communities’ needs

Responsibilities:

  • Be a community advocate by establishing feedback loops with players and dev teams, providing meaningful insights on community sentiment
  • Define moderation and escalation processes to maintain a healthy, positive environment for our players to participate in
  • Develop and execute on social media strategy around key community initiatives including contests, live events, content partnerships, and influencer/creator integrations and more
  • Collaborate on creative briefs and run the community asset production and approval processes
  • Drive creator strategy including identifying potential new creators while supporting and building long-term relationships with existing partners
  • Flex creativity and editing chops to ensure a steady stream of unique, brand-forward content ready for consumption
  • Drive positive change by collaborating with game team, product, and marketing to understand and then create or tweak existing content / plans that take the player’s perspective into consideration
  • Manage our relationship with our community partners, such as fan sites, external forums and community destinations for our brands, as well as the volunteer network
  • Consistently stimulate the conversation regarding Polyarc's community strategy, and ensure all departments are working towards developing a clear and healthy relationship with our communities
  • Identify areas for platform optimization working closely with platforms (such as Discord a Reddit) to ensure our game servers are always up to date in terms of functionality and engagement
  • Keep up with trends in our industry that can encourage and drive our initiatives and be a guide on how gamers talk to each other and where they meet

Qualifications:

  • Experience building communities, community listening and reporting, collaborating with partners, managing talent, and supporting live events in a related field for at least one live game product
  • Knowledge of player-facing communications, social engagement, and gaming ecosystems
  • Analytical skills for tracking community metrics
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional contributors and driving successful initiatives
  • In-depth knowledge of modern community and content distribution channels, and the role they play in a games-as-a-service strategy
  • Highly organized, proactive self-starter, with demonstrated ability to plan and self-manage concurrent content pipelines and programs
  • Ability to think on your feet, multi-task like a champ, and think both strategically and creatively

  • Passion for and familiarity with brand communications and marketing
  • Enthusiastic and participatory in the wider gaming community
  • Existing strong personal network within VR gaming and/or e-sports communities
  • Experience with free-to-play or games-as-a-service development

Compensation:

Polyarc’s salary range for this role is $100,000 to $147,000, with a total compensation target (cash + equity) of $124,422 to $163,166. Any final compensation is dependent on position leveling, taking into consideration the candidate’s qualifications and experiences.  Polyarc also offers a revenue sharing plan.
