Principal Project Manager

Polyarc is seeking a Principal Project Manager to shepherd and facilitate the development of our games. As the second member of the discipline, you’ll help shape the future of Project Management at our studio while growing into a role of stewardship and mentorship over time.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with development teams to manage planning across all phases of game development—balancing creative exploration while maintaining team momentum to sustainably deliver against project timelines.

Your focus will be on proactively identifying and addressing project challenges and inefficiencies, resolving ambiguity, aligning cross-functional contributors, and fostering clear, effective communication. You’ll help keep project teams oriented toward delivering high-quality games, requiring a deep understanding of game development, a collaborative and respectful approach to encourage diverse perspectives, and a facilitative nature to keep development efforts focused on project priorities within established constraints.

If you're passionate about supporting teams to create transformative player experiences in a collaborative, innovative, and empowering studio environment, then Polyarc might be the place for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Evolve project management best practices by shaping scalable workflows and contributing to the growth of the discipline to bolster project efficiency, reinforce sustainability, and ensure timely execution.
  • Plan and manage development across all phases, maintaining detailed schedules, scoping plans, and production systems that communicate risks, progress, and priorities to team members and leadership.
  • Facilitate team alignment through trade-off decisions and capacity planning conversations by leveraging team estimates, project constraints, and cross-functional input to guide staffing, prioritization, and milestone goal-setting.
  • Manage scope, resources, and budgets collaboratively, ensuring impacts to schedule, deliverables, and priorities are clearly understood and communicated.
  • Lead and refine key project rituals, including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, milestone goal-setting and check-ins, triage, and leadership syncs to keep teams focused and engaged.
  • Own partner and stakeholder communication, serving as the main point of contact for external publishers, co-devs, localization partners, VO sessions, and internal marketing alignment.
  • Coordinate asset requests across marketing and development, aligning timelines and assessing scheduling impacts to support campaign and production goals.
  • Support team momentum through accessible documentation and tooling, using Jira, Confluence, Miro, and related systems to unblock dependencies and centralize key project knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • You are an experienced Producer, Project Manager, or Development Director who has shipped high-quality games and led multiple cross-disciplined teams through all phases of development—from concept through launch.
  • You are a skilled unifier who bridges all studio teams, navigates cross-discipline challenges, resolves conflicts, promotes goal clarity, and aligns stakeholders to meet project milestones.
  • You are a proactive collaborator and problem solver who works with project leads to identify, communicate, and manage project risks to mitigate downstream issues.
  • You are a self-starter with excellent communication skills—conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences, thinking creatively and methodically to foster team alignment while removing ambiguity.
  • You are an adept mediator, capable of building strong, trusting relationships with internal team members, external publishers, and partners—you leverage contextual awareness to align and manage expectations across those teams.
  • You are a strong analytical mind with an eye for detail who has a history of identifying issues early, and delivering effective, pragmatic solutions.
  • You are an individual with the ability to integrate a team’s culture and strengths into creative solutions that support both internal and external deliverables.
  • You are a developer and implementer of project management systems and toolsets to support planning, tracking, and execution.

Pluses:

  • Experience in Atlassian software suite.
  • Familiarity with VR/AR or platform-specific development.
  • Experience scaling project management practices at a growing studio.
